WRICET2012, Selangor, Malaysia

The World Research & Innovation Convention on Engineering & Technology (WRICET2012) is the fourth of its series was successfully held at Palace of the Golden Horses, Selangor, Malaysia from 3-5 December 2012. The convention has gathered participants from Malaysia as well as Internationals. Early in the morning, participants have come to register for the Convention and a number of more than 100 people have gathered to fill in the ballroom. As Chairman of WRICET2012, Prof. Ir. Megat Johari Megat Mohd Noor has step up as the Master of Ceremony and invited Assoc. Prof. Dr. Tinia Idaty Mohd Ghazi to give the welcoming speech as the Joint-Chairman for the Convention. The President of the Malaysian Society of Engineering & Technology (MySET), Prof. Dato' Abang Abdullah Abang Ali was invited to the stage to address the crowd and later, officiate the Convention.

The first session of Keynotes was chaired by Dr. Mustafa Din Subari. The Keynote speakers were Professor Dr. Bernd Linke from Germany, Professor Dr. Bijnan Bandyopadhyay from India, Professor Dr. Tatsuo Kitajima from Japan, and Professor Dr. Ng Ka Ming from Hong Kong. The second session of Keynotes was chaired by Prof. Dr. Rosnah Mohd. Yusuff and the Keynote speakers were Professor Dr. Yunus A. Çengel from Turkey, Professor Dr. Shoichiro Ikeda from Japan, Professor Dr. Khalid Ibrahim Alhumaizi from Saudi Arabia, Professor Dr. Kanao Fukuda from Japan, and Professor Dr. Azni Idris from Malaysia.At the end of each Keynote Session, each keynote speaker was presented with an Appreciation Certificate by Prof. Dato' Abang Abdullah Abang Ali and Prof. Ir. Megat Johari Megat Mohd Noor respectively.

On the second day of the convention, the parallel session was divided in to three sessions at Conference I, Congress II and Majestic III respectively. A total of 45 papers were presented during the sessions and each session has two chairs to facilitate the morning and after lunch sessions. At the end of each session, certificate was distributed to the attending participants.

On the third day, a technical visit to the Perbadanan Putrajaya and the Putrajaya Dam was organised for interested participants of the Convention with minimum charge applied. There were around 20 interested participant that joined the visit. The visit started early in the morning, around 9.00 am with the guidance from Prof. Dr. Thamer Ahmed Mohamed. The first stop was the Perbadanan Putrajaya Headquarters located at Presint 3, Putrajaya. With a brief introduction and a photo session with the host, participants were brought to the main technical visit venue which is the Putrajaya Dam, located at the base of Putrajaya International Convention Centre (PICC) in Presint 5. A short briefing was given on site by Mr Roslan Sahatthe Principal Assistant Director, City Planning Department, Environment, Lake and Wetland Division, Hydrology Unit, Perbadanan Putrajaya. Interested participants had a Q & A session during the briefing and later the group was brought to the dam itself for detail view. The visit ended around 12.30 pm with participants having their lunch at the briefing room and later depart from the dam at 1.15 pm.
