FEIIC-IJET is a peer-reviewed, open access journal that publishes high-quality research in engineering and technology. All submitted manuscripts are screened by the Editor-in-Chief or assigned Associate Editors to ensure alignment with the journal’s scope, formatting requirements, and ethical standards. Manuscripts that do not meet minimum requirements may be rejected without external review.

Editors with any conflict of interest in a manuscript’s authorship or content with recuse themselves from the review process.

  1. Peer Review Models
  2. FEIIC-IJET offers the following peer review models:

    • Double-blind review (default): Both authors and reviewers are anonymized.

The model applied will be clearly indicated to authors and reviewers at the time of submission or invitation.

  3. Peer Review Selection
  4. Peer reviewers are chosen based on:

    • Subject expertise and relevance to the manuscript
    • Reputation and past performance as a reviewer (if and when available)
    • Timeliness, quality, and constructive nature of previous reviews
    • Absence of any conflict of interest.

Speed, depth of critique, and collegiality are highly valued. At least one reviewer per manuscript must be independent from the list suggested by the author. Suggested reviewers from authors must be supported with verifiable details, including institutional email addresses and ORCID or Scopus ID. Suggestions must not include recent collaborators or individuals from the same institution. Editors retain final discretion in all reviewer selections.

  5. Peer Review Workflow
  6. The peer review process follows these key stages:

    • Initial screening: Editor assesses submission for scope plagiarism, formatting, and ethical compliance.
    • Reviewer selection: At least two independent reviewers with subject expertise are invited. Diversity and conflict-fee relationships are prioritised.
    • Review assignment: Reviewers will receive anonymised or identified manuscripts based on chosen review model.
    • Review period: Reviewers are expected to submit reports within 3-4 weeks. Extension may be granted upon request.
    • Editorial decision: Based on reviewers’ evaluations, the editor recommends one of the following:
      1. Accept
      2. Minor revision
      3. Major revision
      4. Reject
    • Revision and re-review: Revised manuscripts may undergo additional rounds of review.
    • Final decision and notification: Editor-in-Chief issues final decision. Authors are informed with anonymised reviewer comments.

All decisions are recorded for transparency and future auditing.

  7. AI Use in Peer Review
    • Reviewers must not upload any part of a manuscript to generative Ai tools (e.g. ChatGPT, Perplexity, Bard, etc.) to preserve confidentiality.
    • AI tools may not replace critical human judgement, especially given the limitations in accuracy and up-to-date knowledge.
    • Any use of AI for language checks or summarization must be transparently declared to the editorial team.

  8. Conflict of Interest
    • Authors, reviewers, and editors must disclose financial, institutional, or personal conflicts of interest.
    • Editors will reassign manuscripts where a conflict arises.

  9. Editorial and Ethical Oversight
    • FEIIC-IJET adheres to the Committee on Public Ethics (COPE) principles.
    • Allegations of misconduct (e.g., plagiarism, data fabrication) will be investigated and may result in retraction and/or reporting to institutions.
